“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52).

The Caravan ministry exists to help elementary-age children become more like Jesus by encouraging their growth in the four specific areas mentioned in Luke 2:52: mental (wisdom), physical (stature), spiritual (favor with God), and social (favor with men).

Caravan is a time for children to learn how they can grow in all areas of their lives. It also helps children develop an appreciation for and understanding of Nazarene heritage and beliefs.

Registration fee for Caravan is no longer required!

Recently, Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries experienced some major restructuring. One of the results of this restructuring will mean that the Caravan office at the Global Ministry Center will no longer mail out award letters. Instead, Caravan directors will be able to download awards needed for their children from the Caravan website.

The annual registration fee of $15 was used to cover the printing and mailing of these awards letters. Since this will no longer be taking place, it will no longer be required of local Caravan ministries.

If your Caravan ministry is not currently registered, and you continue to be prompted to register for the current year in order to access your account, please email Dan Harris directly at dharris@caravan.org. Please include the name of the church and local Caravan director and your account will be activated with no charge.

Do to changes in Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries, the ability for the Caravan office to handle the nearly 1500 requests for Caravan Award Letters in the future will become increasingly difficult.  Therefore, we have made the Caravan Award letters avaliable to you for download. You can enter the students name, address, and church, and print the awards in color or black and white on the paper of your choice. The letters will still be updated annually, and will contain the signature of the General Caravan Director.

Announcing the Caravan Theme for 2011-2012

Servants of Christ in Training - 1 Timothy 4:6 ESV

The book of 1 Timothy defines what a good servant of Christ should look like. In chapter four, verse six we read, If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.

The Apostle Paul spent a significant portion of his days in the training and discipling of young Timothy. In the fourth chapter of 1 Timothy, we find Paul expressing his views on what is necessary for a young Christian to know and do in order to be a servant of Christ.

Train Yourself for Godliness

As we train the children in our Caravan ministries to become Christ's disciples, one of the most important components is to encourage each of them to display Godly characteristics in their lives. When children are taught to embrace and display characteristics that scripture refers to as the fruit of the Spirit, they become a testimony to the world around them. This testimony is displayed in both their faith and in the hope they find in Christ. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, are the characteristics that define a servant of Christ.

The Time is Now

Just as Paul encouraged young Timothy to not let his youth stand in the way of being an example of a servant of Christ, so too must we share with our Caravan children the powerful example they can be now. There is no age requirement for servants of Christ. Children can live as godly examples today, while they continue to grow to become more Christ-like.

The Power of Godly Servants of Christ

Paul told young Timothy to Practice these things... so that all may see your progress. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers (1 Timothy 4:15-16). The children we minister to through Caravan are often the most powerful witness to what Christ means to us as believers. When we, as their leaders, embrace the knowledge that the Holy Spirit can work through their lives for the salvation of others, we are further encouraged that the work we do for Christ is making a difference.

As you minister to your Caravan children in 2011-2012, remember that as servants of Christ, we are called to train up servants for Christ who live out Godly characteristics today, with a hope of the impact they can have now and in the future.
